Okay, so I know that I’ve sort of kvetched about how all bloggers in DC blog about food, but I’m going to blog about food. But, it’s not just any food.
Cheese is probably one of the best foods in existence (along with mouilleux au chocolat – look it up). My two favorites are goat cheese and Morbier (it’s French, strong and wonderful). This past weekend, the b/f and I went to Cowgirl Creamery on 9th and F, NW and bought ourselves some delicious cheese. We also discovered there’s an American Cheese Society that has stolen our idea of a “Cheese Fest.” (Their next one is in August in Austin, TX).
We bought several cheeses there, including their cheese of the week (yes, a new one every week): Salers (you don’t pronunce the s). It’s French and dry, similar to Parmiggiano Reggiano.
They also sell a bit of cheese paraphernalia and other items that one consumes with cheese: wine, charcuterie and quince paste. I highly recommend checking it out.
It also makes for great gifts.
